9 weeks

Wow! I'm in my third month! Crazy! I wish I could say that it's been all peaches and cream but I would be lying. Y'all it's been tough! See I am the kind of person that doesn't like to make a fuss about feeling yucky but that's been near impossible! Thank goodness I have a wonderful husband that takes care of me! As yucky as I feel to know that there is a baby in this belly is an amazing and wonderful feeling and if I had to chose between feeling yucky and this baby... yuckyness... BRING IT ON!!!

So here is what's going on in week 9:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. Baby's starting to look more and more human. Essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do baby's tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Eyes are fully formed, but eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. Baby has tiny earlobes, and mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, he/she is poised for rapid weight gain.
